Dear E2E Team

I am using SN65C1167EPWR in UCC21710 based Gate Driver Board as suggested in the following link.

The input is a differential input for SN65C1167 IC.

My query is Can I replace the IC with TC4426/4427 IC? Switching frequency in my application is 100kHz.

Doing so, I won't be using the driver in differential configuration. Are there any drawbacks of not using in differential mode? What are the advantages of using differential driver?

Distance between my Controller board and Gate Driver board is 15".

    I am a little confused on your application. Are you suggesting that you want to replace the SN65C1167 IC with a TC4426/4427 which from my research is a dual high-speed power MOSFET driver from Microchip?

    To answer your question about differential signaling, there is a lot to it. Differential signaling benefits greatly in applications where transmission length is very long. RS485 for example can transmit over 100's of feet, which would result in two different ground potentials. One ground level at the transmitting side, and one at the receiving side which can create a ground potential difference. Having a differential signal in this case would help reject this ground difference since the receivers only care about the difference between between the inverting and non-inverting signals from the RS485 driver. If you use single wire transmission - RS232, transmitting across long lengths could result in data errors. For your specific application of 15'', I don't think GPD would come into effect really at all.
