Hello Richard,
Can you elaborate on what kind of protection you are wanting? We have a portfolio of ESD/TVS diodes than can protect your system from transients like surge or ESD if that's what you're looking for.
Regards,
Matt Smith
Hi Matt See Figure 8-15 Simplified injection current circuitry not ESD fault protection preventing excess voltage disturbing the 5V supply.
Datasheet TMUX says:
To avoid the complications of added external protection to your system, the TMUX1308-Q1 and TMUX1309-Q1 devices have an internal injection current control feature which eliminates the need for external diode/resistor networks typically used to protect the switch and keep the input signals within the supply voltage.
Hey Richard,
The TMUX13xx and the SN74HC458x are the two devices in our current portfolio that have injection current control integrated within them.
For more information on injection current control we have a couple of good resources
App note : TMUX13xx-Q1 and SN74HC485x-Q1 Analog Multiplexer and Demultiplexer with Injection Current Control
TI Precision lab video : 2.12 TI Precision Labs - Switches and muxes: Prevent crosstalk with injection current control
These both will provide more information but also have an external solution but would require an extra voltage regulator for devices that don't have injection control integrated. As far as I know there isn't a single chip solution for this that can be applied to any input though.
Thanks,
Rami
Are these the only devices with this improved protection circuit? more like TL7726CP 6 channel input protector, a dedicated input protector.
Within the multiplexer product line, these are the only devices that have this integrated protection circuitry.
For a dedicated input protector to avoid shunting fault current into your supply line, I'm looping in the appropriate team to help with this or you could post this into the power management E2E forum who may have a solution for you.
Thanks,
Rami
Hey Ben,
The TMUX13xx is in our product line but i'm more looking to see if you can find a proper part for Richard, similar to the TL7726.
Thanks!
Rami
