back channel speed for FPD-LINK3

We are interested in OPEN-LDI to FPD-LINK3 serializer & deserializer IC function, especially in back-channel speed.

It seems that DS90UB947-Q1 has I2C/SPI function for back-channel, but how fast do these interface provide? 1Mbps in 1 lane in both case?

Hi,

The back channel contains the I2C, CRC and 4 bits of standard GPIO information with 5, 10, or 20 Mbps line rate. These different modes are controlled by a compatible deserializer. Consult the appropriate deserializer datasheet for details on how to configure the back channel frequency. Hi,

Thank you for your message. We've checked the deserializer specifications and application report on I2C communication over FPD-Link 3.

Actually, we're interested in the maximum data rate on back-channel. Could you let us check again whether the maximum data rate is 2 Mbps? Or do you mean this chip provide 5/10/20 Mbps data rate on I2C?

If our understanding was correct, may we ask you whether TI have similar chips with on high-speed back channel?

Hi,

The 2Mbps is referring to the max supported bit rate for back channel GPIO. The full back channel rate depends on the deserializer being used, but the 947 has options for 5/10/20Mbps. This backchannel rate includes I2C, CRC, and GPIO. What deserializer are you using?

Hi,

Thank you for your supports. DS90UB948 is one of our option for out deserializer. A combination of DS90UB947/DS90UB948 would be used for our FPD-LIN3 connection. Can we expect 5/10/20Mbps data rate on I2C for back channel?

Hello,

With the 948, you will have the options for 5/10/20Mbps on the back channel. However, I want to state again that this bit rate is inclusive of I2C, CRC, and GPIO. Not only I2C, so the I2C signal itself may have a lower rate.
