USB Hub CC and Data Lines

Hello,

I hope everyone is OK.

I want to design usb hub project however I a little bit confused. What I want to know is as you all know USB Hub ICs have CC and DM, DP lines for USB Type-C Ports. However I have to use DC/DC converters for this USB Hub Project. DC/DC Converters also have CC and DM, DP lines. So, how can be managed? Should I connect HUB's CC and Data lines or DC/DC Converters CC and Data Lines to USB Ports?

Regards,

Mehmet COBAN

  • Hi Mehmet,

The TI hubs do not have integrated CC controllers as part of the hubs.  If CC control is needed, we recommend that the customers implement a CC controller and also route the DP/DM lines to the hub.

  • Hi,

You only need to to connect the CC pins to one device. The DC/DC DP/DM pins most likely have in and out. DC/DC DP/DM will be used to negotiate for BC 1.2 Charging (CDP/DCP). DP/DM OUT pins should still connect to the USB. If you do not want to use DC/DC DP/DM for BC 1.2 charging you can directly connect to USB HUB.
