TPD4E004: Replacement options--TPD4S009DRYR?

Part Number: TPD4E004

Hello,

I have used that the TPD4E004DRYR for USB connection in previous EVMs, but now it is out of stock. What are the next closest parts I can use with package similar to 6-pin USON (DRY)? I only use 2 out of the 4 channels on the TPD4E004.

From a parametric search I find TPD4S009DRYR. Is this an appropriate replacement?

Thank you,

Jennifer

  • Hello Jennifer,

If you are wanting a device that is P2P compatible with TPD4E004DRYR, TPD4S009DRYR would not work since the GND pin is in a different location. If you are only using 2 of the 4 channels, I would recommend using TPD3E001DRYR. It is in the same package, and the only difference in pinout is that pin 5 is N.C. instead of an IO pin.

    TPD4E004DRYR:      TPD3E001DRYR:

Both devices are 5.5 V diodes with 8 kV of IEC 61000-4-2 protection, and they have around 1.5 pF of line capacitance.

  • Hi Matt,

The TPD3E001DRYR would've been great but it's out of stock. If I compromise on the package, does the TPD4S009DRYR (in stock) have similar functionality? I'm not experienced with diodes and so I'm not sure if the extra diode in the opposing direction will change my system significantly.

    Thank you,

    Jennifer

  • Hi Jennifer,

It will still have the same functionality. According the section 7.3.7 of the datasheet, that additional diode is to enable the IOFF feature for this device. Basically, if the power rail connected to the Vcc pin goes below the voltage level of the IO pin, the signal on the IO pin will not leak onto the power rail.
