Hi,

How will the circuit work if RE is grounded? Could it be used as both receiver&driver or only used as receiver? Schematic as below:

When DE is high and /RE is low, the driver works normally, and the bus state will also be output at pin 1. In other words, RXD = TXD, and your controller will receive what it is sending.
