TCAN1044V-Q1: How long does it take for the mode change

Part Number: TCAN1044V-Q1

Hello TRX team,

When TCAN1044V detect UVLO at VCC, the state machine move to Protected mode and CAN BUS output turn to off (Hi-Z)
How long is the period respectively between UVLO detection / moving protected mode / turn off the bus-out?

ti

  • Hi Ti,

The transition to Protected mode after undervoltage detection will have a similar delay as other mode changes tMODE ~= 20us. This may vary with the severity and speed at which the undervoltage event occurs.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

    Regards,
    Eric Schott

  • Hi Eric,

    Sure, understood.
For the customer(Hitachi), the UVLO detection timing is very important.
I want you to add this timing spec when next DS update?
In case of TCAN1145, the UV detection delay is listed in the DS as tUVFLTR.

  • Hi Ti,

The specification does not exist in the current test program for this device. Because we have no way to validate this behavior on production units, we will not be able to add a line item to the datasheet for it.

For TCAN1044, there is no extra delay between when a undervoltage event is detected and when the mode change starts. Because of this, the timing for this delay will be the same as tMODE. There may be variance depending on the ramp rate of the supply voltage, but this will be from the time that the threshold level is reached at different slew rates, not any extra delay added by the digital logic.

Let me know if this is sufficient for the customer's requirements.

    Regards,
    Eric Schott
