DS90UB913Q-Q1: Using SerDes for transferring GPIO data

Part Number: DS90UB913Q-Q1

Hi,

Is it possible to use SerDes for sending only parallel GPIO (let say 7 bit data) over coax/STP cable in vehicle?

Since I'm not sending video, is it possible to eliminate Hsync/Vsync signals? Or it's mandatory for the protocol?

Another constrain is that 3 out of the 7 GPIO must not have a delay between them. or at list constant delay.

Thanks.

  • Hello Ziv,

913Q, 913A, or 933 can be used for this kind of application so long as they are paired with a parallel output deserializer such as 914Q, 914A, or 934. Keep in mind that coax is only supported on 913A/933 and 914A/934.

There is no need to supply HS/VS signals, but there must be a PCLK applied to the serializer. The parallel DIN signals are sampled either on the rising or falling edge of the PCLK based on register selection. On the deserializer side, the signals will be regenerated along with the PCLK and the delay/skew between the signals should be minimal (just related to the setup/hold time of the output on the deserializer side. If you use a higher PCLK, the skew between output signals will be minimal

    Best Regards,
