Hi Abdu,

First, can you confirm the setup? The setup you are showing will not work. The UH948 is a Deserializer and the UB949 is a Serializer. The 949 should be receiving video inputs from the video processor, and the 948 should be outputting to a display. Also, the link between the SER and DES is FPD-Link III, not HDMI.

The video processor in our case is a Head Unit and our custom board is a UH948 + LVDS to HDMI converter.

Do you think in this case connecting the Custom board to UB949 EVM using HDMI is not correct?

What is the video timing being used in this system (Htotal, Vtotal, Hactive, Vactive, PCLK, etc)?

Can you test the following to narrow down where this issue is occurring?

• Using the pattern generator on the 949 (no LVDS->HDMI input), do you see a normal output on the end display?
  • Example: DS90UB949-Q1EVM (patgen) ---> Display(948)

Sorry for late response.

Here is the timing parameters for our display:

Using the Pattern Generator without the custom board shows normal picture in the display expect that it's not full screen,

One note: I had to apply HDMI input for example form laptop to the EVM for the Pattern Generator to work, without this nothing is displayed.

Would it be possible for your to generate for us the EDID based on above timing?

Hi Abdu,

If your panel supplier didn't provide an EDID for this display, then you could use a tool such as AW EDID editor to generate one: https://www.analogway.com/americas/products/software-tools/aw-edid-editor/

This is not the expected output, am I correct?

When setting pattern generator, you should not have to have any input. Did you enable internal timing with internal clock? Can you send your pattern generator configurations?

Pattern is now working properly. Below are the configured timing: 

Total Area (H,V): 1700, 731
Active Area (H,V): 1560, 700
Sync Width (H,V): 40, 2
Back Porch Width (H,V): 70, 20

Is it possible to set the timing source as internal when the PatGen is disabled?

Panel supplier didn't provide an EDID. When using AW EDID Editor, how should Blank and Image size values calculated?

I'm not sure what you mean by this. Internal timing is used by the pattern generator if there is no video input.

I believe blanking refers to the total blanking, so this would be back porch + front porch + sync. I am not sure about image size, it may be referring to the total width, but I can double check with someone on my team who has used that software.
