DS90UB960-Q1: DS90UB960 clock/EMI question

Part Number: DS90UB960-Q1

We have issues with EMC around our FPD-Link connection. The deserializer is DS90UB960. The issue is that we radiated peak near 1500MHz, in the GPS band. A possible solution is to change the reference clock of the chip to 26MHz from 25. It is tested, and seems to be working. According to the datasheet the clock can be between 23 and 26M.

Another possible solution is to use spread spectrum oscillator, this test is ongoing.

My question is that what other consequences may this change have? I mean any degradation in signal, change of MIPI frequency. What is your suggestion?

Thank you!

  • Hello,

This is really a system level change and would probably depend on what would suit your needs better.  Our device can work with 26MHz oscillator and does support SSC, so from our point of view either solution will work.  I know when we do emissions testing we typically see much better results with SSC but again I would say it's really what is going to work better in your system.

    Regards,

    Nick
