DP83620: Alternative to DP83630?

Hi Experts,

Good day.

Due to stock issue, client would want to use DP83620 over DP83630 on their existing design.

They are concerned more about the GPIOs 3 & 4; those two pins are connected another DP83630's GPIOs 3 & 4.

The DP83620 states that those two pins are reserved pins and should not be connected to any other logic. The software application does not use the IEEE1588 features which would utilize those pins.

Their question is if there is any issue involved to connect the pins 23 & 25 of one DP83620 to another DP83620? Is there a possibility that this connection can lead to a problem?

Thank you for the query.

The reserved pins may have some internal functions and it would be best to follow the datasheet recommendations of not connecting to any net.

In the previous design, are they directly connecting?

Based from the report, on their current design with DP83630s, GPIO's 3&4 of this device is also connected to second DP83630's GPIO's 3&4 directly.

But then again, we would like to confirm if there is any issue involved to connect the pins 23 & 25 of one DP83620 to another DP83620? Is there a possibility that this connection can lead to a problem?

See below the recommendations in the datasheet.

These pins are reserved and should not be connected to any external logic or net for most implementations.

I do not have details on the internal implementation.

Any idea if customer has tested the device and does he have some observations.

The client who raised this case is Sudarsan from TTTech AG. Yes, seems the same query (LINK) but couldn't confirm if coming from the same person/company.

This case already closed 2 weeks ago and I believe you already solved it.
