DS90UH948-Q1: 10x2x1 lvds switch

Part Number: DS90UH948-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90UH947-Q1,

Hi Friends on the Interface group, I am investigating a design using the DS90UH948-Q1 DES and the DS90UH947-Q1 SER

I have a display with 1540x720 active area with a pclk of 75.41MHz

Both the mentioned devices provide OpenLDI ports on the output side and the input side respectively.

I need to pass a second OLDI channel through to the 947SER so effectively there are 2 selectable input sources,

My question is, has anyone come across any dedicatated device(even in a IP block) for such an application?

Each channel is either 10 lvds pairs(possibly 5 if the bandwidth allows).

Be interested to hear any thoughts on this.

Thanks

William

  • Hi William,

    Thanks for your question.

Are you asking if you can use dual lane OLDI for the one display? Or are you trying to do some sort of input muxing/switching between the two OLDI inputs at the 947?

    Regards,

    Logan

  • Thanks for the reply Logan.

Yes I want to switch between the 2 OLDI inputs.

But I am trying to decide if I can get away with using 5 lvds pairs for each channel at the desired resolution.

The 948 has dual lane coming in and we know it can do 2in1out or 2in2out so no issues that side.

I can go fpga or I even looked at hi speed 2x1 lvds mux devices but that could end up suffering issues with the board layout as there would be lots of tricky cross overs going on track wise.

So anyway Logan, any thoughts really appreciated.

    Best Regards

    William

  • Hi William,

The 947 does not have this input muxing capability, unfortunately. I think an FPGA or a high-speed mux would be needed for this functionality.

    Logan

  • Thanks Logan, I was really trying to see if anyone had come accross a solutions to this before.

    Thanks again
