thank you for your answer. For #1, why is UFP needed? I thought I can fix the device to DFP. In case of non-USB power supply, nothing else has to be done. In case of power supply by USB, VDD is initially not available when attaching a USB power source, which is dead battery mode even in DFP mode according to table 4 of the datasheet. So the device is a sink even if configured as DFP (source).

PORT pin can be any state, but in dead battery mode, 5.1k RD will be default on CC pin which is UFP mode.

ah, okay. So I can fix the port pin to be in DFP mode in normal operation (non-USB power supply is available). If the power supply is not available, the TUSB320 will automatically be in dead battery mode and will remain in this state when connecting a USB power supply, right?

For sinking/sourcing VBUS, I'd also need a bidirectional power switch, right?

Vbus switch only for DFP, sink Vbus from USB supply from connector.

thank you. Maybe I can provide a schematic within the next days for verification. A question about the OUTx signals: which state will be signaled when in DFP only mode and in dead battery mode? I couldn't find information about it in datasheet.

OUTx pins are open drain , in dead battery mode, open drain is off too.

in DFP mode, OUTx are usless, so don't care.
