DS90UB960-Q1: Suggestions for the impedance matching

Part Number: DS90UB960-Q1

Hi team

My customer has a question about the impedance matching, in their 960 layout:

The required matching 50 ohm single-ended impedance is actually tested less than 50 ohms, do we have some recommendations or suggestions for customer to improve it since the impedance maybe fixed, thank you.

  • Hello Zirui,

The single ended impedance is based on the trace dimensions and the PCB stackup. In order to tune the impedance I would suggest using a tool like TX-LINE to calculate the required trace dimensions in order to hit the target impedance. If the impedance is less than 50 ohms, then that means the line is looking capacitive so you would most likely want to reduce the trace width to compensate.
