DS160PR412: Length limitation

Part Number: DS160PR412

Hi team,

Is there any wire length limitation for the DS160PR412 since it's not seeing in layout guidance?

Thanks!

  • Hi Zoe,

There is no specific wire length limitation. Different traces and cables have different properties and insertion losses, so we cannot guarantee any length limitation. Please look at table 7-1 of the datasheet for approximate insertion losses the redriver can compensate for. The PCIe spec states that a system can function with up to 28dB of insertion loss at Gen4, so as long as the insertion loss of the complete signal path is less than 28dB + the compensation of the redriver, then the link should be stable. We recommend performing IBIS modelling to ensure this.

    Thanks,

    David
