Hi Experts,

May I ask for help? Our customer have a minor concern that wants to confirm, please see below:

"What is the minimum frequency that the device SN65LVDS20 will transmit a signal at? Does it work at DC levels (infrequent pulses)? I saw on the datasheet Figure 9 shows a graph of the minimum but it doesn't ever state a value."

What exactly is the application here with respect to DC levels. Is customer expecting to maintain the output to switch based on a single input or is the differential input still maintained?

Hi Malik,

If customer had a differential signal and the + input (A) was high for 1nS with the - input (B) low for 1ns and then they reversed (A low and B high) and stayed that way for an undetermined time, say 2 seconds. Then repeated the cycle. Essentially like a single intermittent pulse instead of a constant frequency. Would this device respond similarly or would it not function as desired.

Also, will this chip accept LVDS inputs as well?

Hi Gerald,

I expect that SN65LVDS20 will be able to operate in this condition. For a pure LVDS buffer I recommend DS25BR120.
