Other Parts Discussed in Thread: HD3SS6126
Hi Sir,
My customer would like design HD3SS3220.
If customer do not need the type C CC function, how to design to let HD3SS3220 act as HD3SS6126?

SHH

do you still use type-C connector?
Hi Brian,
No type C connector. only use as 2:1 switch for U3 signals.

SHH
CC communication is used to determine which path of mux is on. if you use I2C, it may work.

Hi Brian,
Thanks for feedback. if using I2C mode, should customer set 0x0A=0x10 in UFP mode to disable VCONN power?
and custome can use register 0x09 to control the path of MUX?
register | values |
0x00 | 0x00 |
0x01 | 0x54 |
0x02 | 0x55 |
0x03 | 0x53 |
0x04 | 0x42 |
0x05 | 0x33 |
0x06 | 0x32 |
0x07 | 0x32 |
0x08 | 0x00 |
0x09 | 0x20 |
0x0A | 0x10 |
0xA0 | 0x02 |
Would you please review and provide comment for the following pins design if using I2C mode for Mux purpose only?
NAME | pin | status |
CC2 | 1 | NC or floating? |
CC1 | 2 | NC or floating? |
Current_Mode | 3 | NC, GND or floating? |
PORT | 4 | GND or floating |
VBUS_DET | 5 | NC? |
DIR | 11 | NC |
Enn_MUX | 12 | Low |
ADDR | 22 | Low, 0x47 |
INT_N/OUT3 | 23 | NC |
VCONN_FAULT_N | 24 | NC |
SDA | 25 | pull high |
SCL | 26 | pull high |
ID | 27 | NC |
ENn_CC | 29 | NC or floating? |
attache the excel.
thanks for help!

SHH
After confirmed by system engineer, HD3SS3220 Mux direction can not be controlled by I2C. So it can not used as HD3SS6126. without CC.

Hi Brian,
Thanks for feedback.
Is that possible to control CC1/CC2 voltage by pulling low or pulling high on CC pin by external on-board MCU's GPIO to simulate the CC attaced?
BR,
SHH
Hi Brian,
Customer will use MCU's GPIO to control the direction which is like an passive mux HD3SS6126 with direction control.
BR,
SHH
If they know direction to control HD3SS6126, the they can control CC pin which decide the DIR of HD3Ss3220.

Brian
Hi Brian,
Would you please review the schematic and provide comment to see any concern for this?
Can customer just use one GPIO (GPIO1=GPIO2)?
What is the resistor R1 value suggested?
BR,
SHH
for ufp, you need to see 56k pullup from dfp. need to use both gpio1 and gpo2.

brian
Hi Brian,
Thanks for feedback.
I saw the Source CC termination requirement in below table.
could I confirm with you that the pull-up voltage and Rp value? 56kohm to 3.3V?

SHH
