TUSB1044RNQEVM: Can I use single TVS diode instead of TPD6S300?

Hello TI experts,

my customer considers TUSB1044 for their new product, and I have one question.

in TUSB1044 EVM schematic, there is one TPD6S300 for ESD protection.

but customer cannot use it because PCB is very small, they want to use single TVS diodes on each line.

is it possible to design schematic like this?

I attach the TVS diode which customer has lots of stock.

or I would appreciate if you recommend TVS diode if I can use it.

in the datasheet of TPD1E0B04, says that it is for USB Type-C and Thunderbolt 3 circuit protection.

What if I use the part which don't have features of USB type C protection? would it be a problem?

Hi Chase,

I would recommend using parts specifically for USB-C as they have low IO capacitance and insertion loss.
