DS90UB960-Q1: CSI-2 transmitter frequency question

Part Number: DS90UB960-Q1

Hi team

I have a question about 960 and 964CSI-2 transmitter frequency:

When customer uses 960 and they set the CSI_PLL_CTL[1:0]=01 to set the CSI Data TX rate 1.2Gbps:

But when we change to use 964 also set the CSI_PLL_CTL[1:0]=01, we do not know what is the CSI data TX rate. We do not know 964 could support 1.2Gbps CSI data TX rate and in datasheet it said 'reserved':

so what is the data lane rate value when we set the bit[1:0] be 01 though both of them could successfully bring up the picture? Any risks of that we set the 964 CSI_PLL_CTL[1:0]=01? Thank you.

  • Hello Zirui,

01 is a reserved setting for 964 because it is not validated to work across PVT. Please instruct the customer not to use this setting on 964 as it is likely to cause problems down the line

    Best Regards,

    Casey

  • Hi Casey,

Thank you and customer is asking what is the setting recommendation of the register? Since in 960 they set the bit[1:0]=01 with 1.2Gbps but they do not know set what value in 964, if set 01 do not guarantee the risk, thank you.

  • Hello Zirui,

Not sure what you are looking for here. I would prefer that we don't tell the customer what rate 01 is setting since it is an invalid setting anyways. If you tell them what rate this is configuring then they will think it is ok to use this setting which is not correct as I previously explained.

    Best Regards,

    Casey
