DS90UB960-Q1: AEQ for aging test

Part Number: DS90UB960-Q1

Hi

We use 960 pair with 953 to run MAP testing. Refer to datasheet we expect EQ should be shift to bottom right after aging test (thermal shock) but we get result as following.

Could you help to check result and provide your experience to find the problem?

before thermal shock (aging test)

After aging test

Thanks a lot

  • Hello BR,

Cable characteristics have a large impact on the performance of the system.  It doesn't surprise me that the channel characteristics are much worse in an aged cable compared to a new cable. Unfortunately I think the only way to solve this would be with a better cable and connectors.  Also board layout plays a large role in the performance of the system as well.

  • Hi Nick,

We used dacar 302 cable and Rosenberger automotive connector. Did you have any suggestion to impove cable and connectors?

    Thanks a lot

  • Hello,

In that case this may be an issue with the layout of the PCB.  Have you followed the recommendations for FPD-Link layout listed in the datasheet?  Also the cable/connector vendor may have recommendations of their own for the best high-speed performance.

With that said the results you shared do technically meet out pass criteria for FPD-Link III however I still feel the aged test shows very marginally passing results.  Do you see any errors during normal operation?

    Regards,

    Nick
