TCAN4550: TCAN4550 write register unable to enter normal mode

Part Number: TCAN4550

Hi team,

I got a question from customer.

“Write the 0800 register "c8000 04a0", read the value "c8000 460", and read the spierr register "000000 08". What is the reason? Do we need to set reset and wake pins during chip initialization?”

Thank you very much for your help.

Best regards,

  • Hi Zhonghui,

There is nothing special that needs to occur for amode change SPI write from Standby to Normal mode. As long as there are no fault faults or reset events present, this sequence should not return the device to Standby as shown with the final read of the Mode Control register (h0800).

Does anything else happen electrically between the write of b01 to the MODE_SEL bits (C800 04A0 write) and the read of the Mode Control register? Is the reset pin of TCAN4550 toggled? Are all power supplies stable? Does the IC appear to be overly hot? Such events may cause the transceiver to automatically switch back to Standby mode.

    Regards,
