TUSB9261: Boot from partition on SATA storage device

Hello TI!

I'm looking into the feasibility of replacing a Cypress FX3S chip with the TUSB9261 + a SATA2 to SDIO chip, I've had a look through the technical reference and in 8.1 of the technical reference found "A SPI flash device contains the firmware that is loaded into the TUSB9261 after the deassertion of RESET".

Does this mean the ONLY way to load firmware onto the TUSB9261 is via SPI? Is it not possible to have a dedicated partition on the SATA drive?

I'm also curious as to what level of control we have over the firmware of the TUSB9261? We want to make it a composite USB device with several different interfaces (MSC + HID + HID currently). in the future we'd like to include a CCID smart card interface as well, is this possible?

Hi Fujimi,

This is correct FW is only uploaded to TUSB9261 via SPI flash. The TUSB9261 FW source is available on ti.com for your investigation and to create your own custom FW. We have limited support for this source code and do not support customer implementations. TUSB9261 is not intend for CCID applications.

Thank you! I'll explore the code sample, if I have further questions I'll just re-use this ticket? If it's something specific though I'll open a different one since that's the idea of being able to search forums I guess.

Hello!

I found the compiled package for TUSB9261 here: https://www.ti.com/lit/zip/sllc416

I sent a request for the source code of that package, but they just sent that same compiled package to me.... I have replied to the email accounts ti_techdoc (at) list.ti.com and hpa_mhr_techdoc_exportapproval (at) list.ti.com but not sure if they are monitored email accounts.

I'm not sure if I'm being silly and the bin and hex files are the source code? From my understanding CCstudio uses C and C++ files?

Anytime you reply it will reopen this ticket. Source code package should contain the C and C++ files for compilations. Have you used the link below?

Hello! Yes it has been resolved, I don't know why you guys required approval for that source code package, in the readme and copyright and manifest, they all have "BSD-3-Clause" as the license... I probably could of found it on google... The issue I was having was with our email account, we don't have the domain that "matches" our company name so customer support gave me trouble.
