DP83TG720S-Q1: Power Up Timing

Part Number: DP83TG720S-Q1

Hello Support,

We used DP83TC811S in one of our design for a 100Mbps solution

We are now working on a new design with the previous design as base and trying to make a flexible design between DP83TC811S and DP83TG720S to be compatible with both 100Mbps and 1Gbps.

We see the power up timing for VDDIO is not same for the two. We would like to use the same 1.8V LDO we used for DP83TC811S in current design too.

But in the datasheet of DP83TG720S the max power up timing of VDDIO is 40ms for 1.8V, but the LDO we use takes up to 80ms.

Could you please let us know if it is Okay? If not what would be the impact in the functionality of the IC?

Thanks &Regards,

  • Hello,

Having an LDO that takes 80ms does violate the 40ms maximum as spec'ed in the datasheet. This may cause issues with POR and would require a HW reset every time the IC is powered up. In addition, please keep in mind the other changes required to go from 811 to 720, such as 1.0 supply, decoupling scheme, LPF network, etc.

    Sincerely,

    Gerome
