SN65HVD257EVM: CAN Loopback Design

Part Number: SN65HVD257EVM

I have a PXI card that I am trying to design a self test for.  Is it possible to use the SN65HVD257EVM as a sort of self test for a CAN system?  Is that functionality that is native to the evaluation board, or would I have to build this from scratch?

    Hi John,

    I believe this EVM can help accomplish what you're describing. The transceivers on the EVM can be driven from a CAN controller using the breakout of the TXD pins. The transceiver will then drive the bus (even if it's just on the EVM) and cause the RXD signal to match what was driven on TXD. This will allow for a functional self-test of the CAN controller and transceiver. Does this sound like the test you have in mind?
