TPS65987D: How to upgrade TPS65987 without power up then power on

I am currently debugging the PD upgrade of TPS65987 and found that after the I2c upgrade is completed, the PD needs to be powered off once to successfully upgrade. Is there any way after I2c upgrade, I use I2c to send a reset command to PD so that it can also upgrade successfully without powering off?

Hi Yang,

The PD controller needs to be power cycled to be programmed to the new configurations from the I2C update.

You may try sending the 4CC 'GAID' command to the PD after the update. Please let me know if that resolves your issue.

Hi Yang,

Unfortunately, I do not think there is a way around this, the PD controller needs to be power cycled in order for the configuration updates to be programmed in.

I can double check with my team and get back to you next week to confirm if there is a workaround.
