DS90UB936-Q1: minimum MIPI clock frequency?

Part Number: DS90UB936-Q1

Hi Team,

A customer would like to use a 96 MHz single lane MIPI camera over UB935/UB936.

In the DS of UB9356 a minimum "MIPI CSI-2 HS clock frequency" of 184 MHz is specified.

Will the camera work with UB936 or will the lower clock frequency be an issue?
Does the same also apply for UB954?

BR,
Stefan

  • Hello Stefan,

The CSI-2 data rate at the serializer side and deserializer side are independent. The 936 just needs to be configured to an equal or higher speed than what is coming in on the input from the serializer to ensure that there is enough bandwidth to forward the received packets.

For 935, the device can accept a minimum HS clock of 40MHz (80Mbps lane rate)

For the 936, the minimum HS clock speed is 184MHz (368Mbps lane rate). The 936 output rates are discrete steps which scale with the REFCLK frequency:

    Best Regards,

    Casey
