Part Selection for GPON OLT and ONT integration using RMII protocol

We are looking for the development of OLT and ONT with RMII communication protocol with our custom developed board

As in GPON network OLT and ONT needs to be developed for proper network formation, so I want to know which ICs to be used to developed ONT and OLT.

If I am not wrong DP83849 can be used at ONT side, but what configurations need to be set to used as ONT plus if it can be used as OLT, how we can do that.

I am afraid but I am not sure about ONT and OLT terminologies (atleast we dont use it internally :) ). Kindly share some reference.

Hello Santosh,

Thanks for sharing the block diagram. 869 is an Ethernet PHY with a gigabit fiber interface and can be used for peer to peer communication for Ethernet over fiber. I think here ONT describes that use case. I am not sure about exact architecture requirement from OLT devices but may be it needs higher speed PHYs .
