TCAN1044AV-Q1: Fail to wake on WUP pattern

Part Number: TCAN1044AV-Q1

HI,

We have one design with TCAN1044AVDRQ1 CAN transceiver. During standby operation , Device is unable to wake once we give WUP pattern. While on same hardware when we tested TCAN1042AVDRQ1 ,host controller is wake up.

Please advise on difference between these 02 transceiver and probable cause for malfunctioning of TCAN1044AVDRQ1.

In below image R1 is CANL while 2 is RXD line.

  • Hi Vaibhav,

Thanks for bringing this issue to E2E.

I understand your description that TCAN1044 appears to not respond to a WUP, but I'm not sure the scope shot is indicative of a problem with the transceiver. In the scope shot, the RXD line appears to follow the state of the CAN bus (CANL) at all times. During a WUP, I would expect the only the second filtered dominant to trigger the RXD assertion. Because of this, the scope shot seems to not capture the initial WUP. If a WUP exists before this scope shot, then everything here seems to reflect expected behavior.

I understand that the system sees different behavior depending on which transceiver is used. This seems odd since both devices define the same WUP behavior and timing specifications. Can you please confirm that there are no other differences between the two test cases? Is it possible to capture scope shots of both test cases using the same WUP to compare the behavior or each transceivers' RXD pins in your setup? Please try to capture the initial WUP (first filtered dominant should not show up on RXD) so we can see the initial wake up behavior.
