DP83848I: Pin41 function consult

Part Number: DP83848I

Hi Team,

Customer is confused about the description of pin41 "RX_ER". Since this pin41 is not required to be used in MII or RMII mode, what's the true usage of this pin41 here? Pls give us the detailed description of this pin, better w/ example. Customer is consulting about it.

Best,

Stanley

  • Stanley,

This is standard signal with functionality defined in RMII and MII standards. As described, usage of pin depends upon the MAC and some MACs dont need this. But if required, then MAC can use this. Here is the brief description :

Receive Error: This pin indicates that an error symbol has been detected
within a received packet in both MII and RMII mode. In MII mode, RX_ER
is asserted high synchronously to the rising edge of RX_CLK. In RMII
mode, RX_ER is asserted high synchronously to the rising edge of the
    reference clock.

For further details customer can consult the standard
