Hi Expert,

I am wondering the function and reason of 0.1uF DC blocking capacitor between MAC and DP83TG720S-Q1 SGMII. 

  1. Why need the block capacitor here?
  2. How to choose the capacitor value and type? Now my customer's project is choosing X7R 10%, is enough? Any calculation and test report on this?

I checked ENG-46158 Serial-GMII Specification(version 1.8) , there is no suggestion of this blocking capacitor.
