Hi, 

I have an existing design that uses the SN65DSI85 to create an LVDS output to two displays. I would like to transmit this LVDS over two serialized channels. Is the DS90UB947 compatible with the output of the SN65DSI85?  

Today I have SN65DSI85 -> Display Driver

My idea would be: SN65DSI85 -> DS90UB947 -> 2 x Coax -> DS90UB948-Q1 ->  Display Driver

Would that work in theory? My main question is if the input of the DS90UB947 is compatible with the SN65DSI85? Then is the output of the DS90UB948 going to be the same as the output from the SN65DS85 so my displays will work? Right now I don't have the choice of removing the SN65DSI85 from the system.

    Yes SN65DSI85 and DS90UB947 are compatible. The only thing you will need to be extra careful about is that you use an ultra low jitter REFCLK to SN65DSI85 and implement good high speed layout between the two devices to ensure that the LVDS to 947 has very low jitter/skew in the clock to data relationship. That is because 947 has relatively strict jitter and clock to data skew requirements, especially at higher operating LVDS clock frequencies. If you can use dual OLDI output to 947 that will help reduce the requirements by dropping the frequency in half for each channel
