PCA9306: I2C Level Translator

Part Number: PCA9306
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LSF0102, TCA9406, TCA9800, TXS0102, TCA9517, TCA39306

Hi,

Good Day. I have a customer who has a query with PCA9306. Please see below his query for your reference. Thank you very much.

Could you recommend me an I2C Level Translator with this features:

Part is in stock

1V8 at I2C Slave Side

3V0 at I2C Master Side

Enable on 3V0 Side

Very Low Current when 1V8-side is disabled and 1V8 voltage is switched off. The current at 3V0 should be below 0,1mA.

Is PCA9306 a good choice?

Best Regards,

Ray Vincent

  • The PCA9306/LSF0102 supports powering off one side only when EN is low.

Devices like the TCA9800/1/2/3, TCA9406/TXS0102, or TCA9517 will work. (Read the datasheets for how to handle pull-up resistors.)

  • Hi Ray,

I agree with Clemen's response (as usual).

For lowest current, I would probably recommend PCA9306/TCA39306.

I'll add something though, with PCA9306 you the enable pin you should connect it to a GPIO as HI-Z to be enabled and Drive it low when you want to disable. We don't want to drive the enable pin to 3V. If you don't have a GPIO, you could use the 3V rail connected to an open drain inverter or 2 NFETs to make your own inverter.
