TPS25830A-Q1: About Short to BATT Protection

Hi Kuno,

As you know TPS25830A has Short to Battery Protection feature. But I relaize that this feature valid only when I use external Mosfet. Am I correct? 

If I dont use external mosfet, is chip still protected from the damage which cause of Short to BATT?

    Hi Mehmet,

    For our device itself, the CSN&CSP can withstand up to 20V, so it is safe for our device when in the short to battery condition, but for Isolating a fault on the USB port from other loads connected to the CSP output of the TPS2583xA-Q1, you can add a external mosfet, and if you let the power off before short to battery test,  the internal High side mosfet diode may be damaged, so you need to add a external diode. 

    In conclusion, if you don't want to add a external mosfet, you can add a diode.
