TUSB217-Q1: Could the DP/DM be damaged when short to VBUS=5v ?

HI Team,

We have some customers using TUSB217-Q1 that car OEM request DP/DM short to VBUS=5V protection.

When DP/DM short to VBUS=5V, would these pins or the chip be damaged ?

The absolute maximum ratings allow this. (It is required by the USB specification.)

Hi Rocson,

The TUSB217-Q1 can handle VBUS short up to 5.5V (absolute max ratings). Please note that the VBUS short withstand requirement was removed from the USB specification so not all USB devices will meet this requirement.
