TPS25750: [tps25750+bq25792]Update firmware everytime when booting

Part Number: TPS25750
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25792

Hi Team,

Our customer is using tps25750+bq25792. No eeprom.

Binnary is generated by TPS25750_Application_Customization_Tool and flashed to device by 'Patch Bundle Update Tasks'.

Is it necessary to update this same binnary when every boot up? If not, the firmware or configuration will fall back to default?

Thank you in advance.

Best regards,

Jonathan

  • Yes the patch binary needs to be updated to the PD controller on every boot.  The PD controller does not have internal Non Volatile memory to retain this image. It will either load it from the EEPROM if connected(not available in your case) or can be updated through I2C from and External micro controller.
