TPS25832A-Q1: Auto DCP Mode

Part Number: TPS25832A-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS25833-Q1, TPS25831-Q1

Hi Kuno,

As you know TPS25832A-Q1 does not have Auto DCP Mode. Only it has CDP and SDP Modes with respect to BC1.2. I wish this chip had "Auto DCP Mode" feature.

Max. current limit is 500mA/900mA in SDP

Max. current limit is 1.5A in CDP.

According to SDP and CDP mode rules, cannot I set the current limit 3 Amper to Type-C port?

I a little bit confused.

My board is going to have only dedicated Charging Port feature, no data transfer. How can I set the ic to only DCP Mode?

Regards,

  • What is the disadvantage lack of this feature?

  • Hi Mehmet,

If you want to support the DCP mode, you can choose the TPS25831-Q1/TPS25833-Q1, for the TPS25832A-Q1, it can't support the DCP mode.

Besides, for the setup of current limit, sure you can set the 3A for the Type-C port, in my opinion, for the SDP and CDP mode rules, their current limit value just means that in this standard protocol, their max support current, it doesn't matter with our device current limit.

    Thanks,

    Kuno.
