DS90UR241: HDMI to FPD-Link II

Part Number: DS90UR241
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90UR124, , DS90UB929-Q1, DS90UB948-Q1

Hello,

I have a device using the DS90UR241 to serialize the video to the car factory screen (I'm guessing the car is using the DS90UR124 on the other end).

I'm looking into converting a HDMI source input to this car, is that possible?

There are some topics saying that FPD-Link III is backwards compatible with FPD-Link II so can I assume that DS90UB929-Q1 would be the one to be used here?

Thanks!

  • Hello Gabriel,

    Some FPD III devices are backwards compatible with FPD II such as DS90UB927-Q1 or DS90UB925-Q1, but DS90UB929-Q1 is more similar in architecture actually to DS90UB94x-Q1 which are not backwards compatible with FPD II. For converting HDMI to display you would need to use 929 or 949 with a compatible deserializer such as DS90UB948-Q1 or you could use a multi chip solution:

    HDMI -> DS90UB929-Q1 -> FPD III -> DS90UB926-Q1 -> RGB666 -> DS90UR241 -> FPD II -> DS90UR124

    Best Regards,

    Casey
