DP83848I: BIST PSR_15 or PSR9

Part Number: DP83848I

my customer is investigating 6.3.5 BIST detail that Random-seq prepare TX block and then RX block has been received RX.
Accoring to datasheet 6.3.5, Customer can select Random seq either 9bit or 15bit(PSR15 or PSR9).

Would you please let me know following questions?

Q1) Pros / Cons if customer chose PSR15 or PSR9 each case
Q2) what is typical cycle time of BIST each 15bits case and 9 bits case
Q3) do you have apps note how to proceed such conditions?

Best Regards,

Hironori Yoshimura

  • Hi Hironori,

    1. The PSR15 sequence will be slightly more stressful on the data path and increase the likelihood of bit errors, vs PSR9, since it is a longer sequence that will introduce more randomness to the signal, especially at the high frequencies.

    2. I am not sure what you mean by "typical cycle time", could you elaborate on this question?

    3. Unfortunately we do not have an additional app note for this outside of what is in the datasheet.

Let me know if you have additional questions.

    Thanks,

    David
