Hi Team,

I'm using the TPS65987EVM + 10G-EXPANSION-EVM (sink module). The DP output is working, but the USB3 over the Type-A connector doesn't work.

I checked it with an USB 3.0 mem-stick:

=> in the device-manager it is shown as "Unknown USB Device ( Problem at resetting the port)". It is also not detected as a USB2.0 device.

=> If I plug in an USB 2.0 mem-stick it is detected and shown in the device-manager and in Explorer.

I tried the settings of the "87D EVM Sink Board.pjt" provided in the answer => DP-output works, USB 3.0 output doesn't work

I also build a new project (please find attached), 87D_Sink-Only_DP-Alternate_NE01.pjt but the result is the same, DP-output works, but USB 3.0 doesn't work.

Please also find attached picture of the setup.

I'm looking forward to any hint.

Hello Chuck,

thank you for your quick response. I go ahead with evaluation and compared the schematics of the 10G-Expansion-EVM /cfs-file/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/138/PSIL068A_2800_001_29005F00_Sch.PDF with the reference schematics of a further EVM based on the TUSB564 https://www.ti.com/lit/zip/sllr099. I found, that on the 10-G-Expansion-EVM the SSRX_P/_N is rooted to pins 6/5 of the USB-A connector and the SSTX_P/_N is rooted to pins 9/8 of the USB-A connector while on the other TUSB564 EVM the SSRX_P/_N is rooted to pins 9/8 of the USB-A connector and the SSTX_P/_N is rooted to pins 6/5 of the USB-A connector.

I swaped the TX and RX pairs on the 10G-Expansion-EVM and then the USB 3.0 Type-A port works.

Is there a reason why the Type-A connector is connected in different ways on the two EVM boards?

There was not a definitive reason that I am aware of for the swap.

I am glad that you were able to get this working and I will not this solution for others in the future.

Norbert,

This is not a commonly supported EVM option, so it has seen very limited use.
