TUSB4020BI: Is 5V needed for operation?

Part Number: TUSB4020BI

Hi,

I need to use TUSB4020BIPHP in my design, but unfortunately, I don't have 5V input. the upstream port comes from Intel Alder Lake CPU which sits on a motherboard, and it's delivered through a B2B controller to an Extension Board which I am designing. the B2B delivers only 3.3V.
internally I created the 1.1V through an LDO.

do I need to create the 5V from the 3.3V using a step-up converter?

BR,

Firas

  • 5V is not required for the TUSB4020B, although the resister values of the divider on USB_VBUS will need to be adjusted if it is connected to 3.3V instead of 5V.

How are devices downstream of the hub going to be powered if there is no 5V VBUS?

    Regards,
