TCAN1145-Q1: Difference from NXP TJA1145

Hello team,

I know the pin-to-pin solution about TJA1145 is TCAN1145, which support specific frame wake-up mode(?).

  • Could you please provide the comparing table between TJA1145 and TCAN1145?

    Hi Lanxi,

    Yes, both of these devices support partial networking via selective wake. They are pin-to-pin compatible but require software change to accommodate the differing register maps and SPI configurations. Apart from the software changes needed so support these differences, there are no hardware changes needed when switching between these two devices.

    Do you have a comparing table of features between TJA1145ATK/FD and TCAN1145-Q1? And do TCAN1145 support CANFD selective wake? If not, do we have other choice?

    Hi Lanxi,

    Yes, I will send you a migration guide offline. 

    Selective wake from CAN FD is not defined in the CAN standard for partial networking, so no existing device supports this feature. I don't expect that this behavior will be adopted as it adds significant complexity to the transceiver without a direct benefit to the selective wake feature. 

    If this request is coming from a customer based on an end-requirement, I would encourage the customer to push-back on this requirement as the behavior is not defined and would not provide direct benefit to the selective wake feature.

    By the way, my customer concerned about the EMI issue, do we have EMI test picture of TCAN1145-Q1? It would be best if there are comparison picture between TJA1145ATK/FD and TCAN1145-Q1.

    Lanxi,

    We have EMC certification reports that show emissions and immunity results for TCAN1145-Q1, but nothing comparing to the TJA1145. If you email me directly at e-hackett@ti.com I can share these reports with you.
