DP83867IR: DP83867IRRGZR PART POWERS REQUIREMENT & LINUX DRIVERS AVAILABILITY

For DP83867IRRGZR, VDDIO,VDD2V5,VDD1P0,VDD1P8 are external power supplies. While VDD1P8 has internal LDO option too and can be left floating, VDDIO, VDD2V5 and VDD1P0 are must have power supply input pins.

AR8035 part has integrated LDO's for VDD2V5 & VDD1P1 correct??

Can you suggest any regulators in TI which we can give supplies to DP83867 IC??

Also what is life for this part??

Hi,

1.TPS73501DRVR getting 2.5V/500mA for VDDIO & VDD2V5(both we can combine at DP83867 right) will this 500mA current be sufficient while operating ethernet phy at full speeds??

2.TPS74701DRCR for getting 1.0V for VDD1P0 pins of DP83867 IC,no issues regarding output currents while operating??

3.DP83867 IC requires VDD2V5,VDDIO(if RGMII voltage level is 2.5V) & VDDIP0 powers are enough right to operate??VDD1P8 is not required,can we connect these pins NC?

4.As per AR8035 chip is concerned,it has internal LDO's and VDDIO(2.5V) we have directly connected to processor RGMII IO voltage and VDD1P1 digital core also internally generated from PHY...DP83867 VDDIO voltage we can directly connect to processor RGMII IO Voltage right??

5.Media-dependent interface outputs 4 pairs we can directly connect to RJ45 with internal magnetics right??

Hi Gokul,

One more thing i just want to understand for this ethernet PHY will 25MHz crystal is required for XI & XO of DP83867 chip??because in AR8035 design we have not given any external clock to XI  & XO of AR8035 chip.

Hi Manikumar,

Please find my answers below.

1. 500mA will be sufficient for VDDA & VDDIO for DP83867
2. For DP83867, we use VDD1P1 instead of VDD1P0. You can choose the LDO accordingly.
3. VDD1P8 is not a compulsory power supply input. It can be floating. VDD1P1, VDDIO, VDDA are compulsory inputs.
4. VDDIO/VDDA2P5V can be clubbed together, but it is recommended to use the power supply BOM mentioned in the datasheet to have enough isolation between the supplies.
5. Can you please let me know the part number of RJ45 with internal magnetics you have in mind? I can check whether we support them or not.
6. Ethernet PHY needs 25MHz crystal between XI and XO. The connections and BOM for this will be same as those in the reference schematic shared earlier.

1.We have used A829-1J1T-KM  RJ45 in our current design, can we use the same for connecting to DP83867??

2.Can we use LDO's mentioned/used in reference schematics provided by you for VDD1P0 or better to use VDD1P1 LDO(Can you suggest LDO from TI) and for VDDA2P5V also??

3.How to connect LED's for Link/active as a normal ethernet operations?

Hi Manikumar,

1. Yes, A829-1J1T-KM can be used. But please make sure that center taps are not shorted or connected to VCC. They should be connected to PHY ground individually with 0.1uF caps.
   
   
2. Sorry for confusing you between VDD1P1 and VDD1P0. Since you are planning to use RGZ package, you can use VDD1P0.
   
   You can choose to use the same LDOs in the reference EVM designs.
   
   
3. For details on LED configuration, please refer to Section8.5.2 in the datasheet. https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/dp83867ir.pdf
   Please note that LED configuration changes for different modes of strapping used.
