Hi Team,

Our customer can't output the bin file normally.

Me and they are setting up the GUI with the same steps and version(7.0.2.1), OS(Windows).

However, bin file has a diff.

Please refer to the attached file.

(By the way, bin file is output by “Generate Full Flash Binary”).

-Case1: I set to Sink/27W without BQ by GUI. Then EVM can negotiate USB PD so VBUS is rise 9V.

-Case2: They set to Sink/27W without BQ by GUI. Then EVM can’t negotiate USB PD so VBUS repeats 5V and below.

* EVM is USB-PD-CHG-EVM-01

We have two questions.

[Q1]

Bin file has a diff(Yellow line in bin file).

Does the difference affect EVM?

If yes, could you please let us know the specific difference?

(For example, Vbus level, function(Sink or Source) etc.)

----

[Q2]

Could you please let us know the cause of the difference in bin file?

(For example, PC setting etc.)

----

There will be differences in the binary file for every configuration because registers are updated to support the configuration.

Can you please post your customers configuration ?

You can do this by clicking on Export Settings.

This will allow me to work with our GUI team to resolve their issue.

Hi Chuck-san,

We can output JSON files.

I seem that the information of JSON files are same.

(Please refer to the attached file.)

However, there is a difference in bin file.

The difference between me and them of the evaluation environment is PC(GUI version and EVM is same).

Is it possible to investigate the cause?

There should be a difference between the two JSONS for these 2 different configurations.

I reviewed this thread again and there will be a very significant difference in the bin file when the charger is enabled vs when it is not.

All of the charger configuration information is not present when it is not enabled.

Hi Chuck-san,

I understand that Case1 and Case 2 are “Battery charger is not enabled”.

Then, a difference occurs in the register related to battery charger in the bin file.

Is my understanding correct?

The following differences are occurring.

-Case1: I set to Sink/27W without BQ by GUI. Then EVM can negotiate USB PD so VBUS is rise 9V.

-Case2: They set to Sink/27W without BQ by GUI. Then EVM can’t negotiate USB PD so VBUS repeats 5V and below.

Could you please let us know this cause?

I guess that if the difference of bin file is only battery charger related, TPS25750 behavior difference does not occur.

A2. I am tracking an potential bug with the GUI that may be releated to what you are seeing. I will create a pair of binary files with the developer GUI for you tomorrow afternoon to see if they resolve the issue.

I have replicated your issue and have identified the bug and the fix for this issue.

I am hoping for a test release from the GUI team tomorrow that will address this failure.

I have confirmed that this is not a GUI issue, it is in the interface between the TPS25750 and the BQ25792 that is causing the issue. I am activly debugging, but I do not have a timeline on when I will be finished.
