Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TVS2700, TVS2701, TVS3300,
Hi there, we have two protection applications:
Application 1: DC Input
Working voltage: 28V
AMR of device we are protecting = 40V - clamping voltage should be 40V or less
See block diagram below:
Although our system will not operate in reverse polarity conditions, it should not be damaged as it will be protected by our RPP circuit. Is a unidirectional ESD device safe in this case?
Application 2: Battery rail with motors
Working voltage: 25V max
AMR of device = 40V - clamping voltage should be 40V or less
We are considering the following devices:
TVS2700
TVS2701
TVS3300
TVS3301
Questions:
Are the TVS2700 / TVS2701 okay to operate continuously at 28V?
For application 1, do we need to specifically use a bidirectional device? We want to avoid damaging the ESD device during reverse polarity condition
Which one would be best for each application? Could we use the same device for both?
