TUSB8020B: 8 inches loss control for PCB material

Hi TI supporter

Base on TUSB8020B datasheet Layout Guidelines.

It Shows the " Minimize the trace lengths of the differential pair traces. Eight inches is the maximum recommended trace
length for SS differential-pair signals ".

May I know Eight inches is based on which  PCB material?

    Hi Thomas,

    That PCB length is based on FR4, but assumes a clean layout with minimal discontinuities and good length matching and impedance control.  If a longer distance is needed or routing is non-ideal a redriver is recommended.
