TPS65994AE: Some question for the application of TPS65994AE

Hi TI Teams,

Our customer originally planned to add JHL0805R TBT retimer to one of the PD ports wihch supported by TPS65994AE. Due to some design reasons, they are now preparing to add no retimer to both ports. Is there any impact by this design? Does it affect the communication speed of the type-c port?

    Hi Lumina,

    This is okay but there is physical limit to how long the SSTX/RX traces can be to insure signal integrity. I highly suggest the customer follow up with Intel to see if this is within the system tolerance. This is a very rare case so there will be some limitations to what the system can support. 

    The TPS65994AE can support retimer-less systems, the support will have to be disabled in the configuration.
