TUSB217-Q1: I2C Mode Register Settings

Part Number: TUSB217-Q1

If a TUSB217-Q1 detects it has an I2C bus connected will the part still set the registers based on resistors connected to the RX_SEN and BOOST pins.

The datasheet seems to imply that the RX_SEN and BOOST pins would be ignored if an I2C bus is detected, but doesn't explicitly say this.

If, in I2C mode, the RX_SEN and BOOST pins are ignored, is there a default setting for the registers prior to being programmed over I2C, or are the values random?

Is the I2C mode detection simply that the input pins are pulled up, or does it require some activity?

Kind regards

Andrew

  • Hi Andrew,

If the TUSB217-Q1 detects an I2C bus is connected, it will still set the default register values based on the external resistors on RX_SEN / BOOST.  You should be able to read back the register settings as configured by the pins over I2C.  I2C mode is just pull-ups on SDA/SCL.
