TCAN1044AV-Q1: Could we fload VIO pin or have to connect to I/O logic supply?

Part Number: TCAN1044AV-Q1

Hi team,

Could we leave VIO floating pin or have to connect to I/O logic supply?

I know TCAN1044A-Q1 has NC pin and TCAN1044AV-Q1 has VIO. For flexible design, we would like to use TCAN1044AV-Q1 both for level shifting apps and no level shifting apps. For TCAN1044AV-Q1 with no level shifting apps, how do I have to terminate its VIO pin? Could we float VIO pin or should we connect VIO and VCC pin?

Regards,
Ochi

  • Hi Ochi-san,

The Vio pin for TCAN1044AV should always be connected to the logic level used by the TXD/RXD lines. So if the IO voltage is 5V, Vio should be connected to 5V. This supply should not be left floating as it is required to power the RXD output and set the threshold for the TXD input.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

    Regards,
    Eric Schott
