TVS3300: Parallel connection

Part Number: TVS3300

Hello,

I'm thinking of use two TVS3300 in a parallel to achieve a higher current capability. I know that is very hard to achieve a true current sharing because of even a little breakdown voltage difference between two diodes. Additionaly, two diodes in a parallel could also increase parasitic capacitance. So, there is probably a very small chance that two parallel TVS diodes will bring overall higher current capability that one TVS dioda has, am I right?

Many thanks,
Kind regards,
Dejan.

  • Hi Dejan,

Technically, yes, there is a small chance to increase your current rating with TVS3300s in parallel. I'd recommend putting a resistor behind each diode to ensure the one that conducts last has enough time to start conducting. However, that will also increase your clamping voltage.
