DP83TG720R-Q1: support MDI -> RGMII?

Hi,

Is it possible to route an MDI link to something like a DP83TG720R-Q1 (but with support for 1000BASE-T instead of 1000BASE-T1), and then route the RGMII over a midplane to another DP83TG720R-Q1? The full path would be something like the following. Does TI have a part that supports RGMII and 1000BASE-T?

NIC->MDI->Magnetics->DP83T->RGMII->DP83T->Magnetics->MDI->NIC

Hi Alan,

This application is typically called a media converter application. The one side MDI has 1000Base-T PHY and the other side MDI has 1000Base-T1 PHY with RGMII lines of both the PHYs connected.

In fact, the DP83TG720EVM design we have is with same application. Please go through the user guide of the EVM to get more idea. https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/snlu289/snlu289.pdf

On the EVM, we have DP83867. We have other parts too supporting 1000Base-T. Please find them here.
